Metropolitan Council Environmental Services (MCES) is pleased to announce that the State of Minnesota has awarded $5 million for eligible municipalities to make capital improvements to public infrastructure to mitigate inflow and infiltration (I/I). These funds will be available through the 2020 Municipal I/I Grant Program, which will be administered by MCES.
Your community is eligible to participate in the 2020 Municipal I/I Grant Program because you have previously exceeded an I/I threshold set by MCES. For those who participated in the 2014 or 2017 Municipal I/I Grant Programs, the 2020 program will be similar - work is completed by communities and reimbursements are calculated and disbursed at the end of the program. In addition, the 2020 Municipal I/I Grant Program will partially reimburse capital improvements made between January 1, 2021 and December 31, 2022.
Additional information on the disbursement process, program calendar, types of qualifying work, and more will be shared at a virtual information session on Wednesday, January 27, 2021 at 11AM. The information session will be hosted on Webex and registration is required.
