Large Building Energy Benchmarking program in Minnesota
Minnesota has launched its Large Building Energy Benchmarking program, which will be collecting energy use data from commercial and multi-family buildings across the state. The program is managed by the Division of Energy Resources at the Minnesota Department of Commerce.
Buildings larger than 100,000 sq ft will be submitting energy use data to the State by June 1, 2025, and this program will expand to buildings 50,000 sq ft and larger the following year.
- What buildings participate in this program?
- Buildings that are 50,000 square feet and larger that are:
- served by an investor-owned utility in Anoka, Carver, Dakota, Hennepin, Ramsey, Scott or Washington County, or
- a building located in any city outside the metropolitan area with a population of over 50,000 residents served by a municipal energy utility or investor-owned utility.
