Geothermal Work Group (statewide) - Starts 8/19

Hennepin County in partnership with GPI and CERTs is launching an exciting Geothermal Work Group that will include a series of six monthly informational workshops and resources for interested local and tribal government staff. This project is funded by a small grant from the Urban Sustainability Directors Network (USDN) to Hennepin County.  After the USDN grant wraps up in January, we will poll the group to determine if we want to continue convening.

The work group is open to anyone statewide!

Workshops will occur between now and the end of December – five virtual and one in-person workshop/project tour. Workshop topics will be informed by participating cities and will include a variety of geothermal topics which could include geothermal 101, geothermal project types, how to get started on a geothermal project, lessons learned from completed geothermal projects, financial models to support geothermal projects, and opportunities for geothermal policy advocacy.

Our first virtual workshop will be Tuesday, August 19 from 1-2:30pm CT. Noah Cordoba (Building Decarbonization Coalition) will give a Geothermal and Heat Exchange 101 presentation and we will spend the rest of the time getting member feedback on what you want to learn over the course of this series.

Feel free to extend the invitation to any colleagues who may be interested (facilities managers, etc.) Contact Catherine (ckemp@gpisd.net) if you have questions.
