Webinar: Climate change mitigation analysis in 2050 Comp Planning - 4/15

In 2023, Minnesota passed legislation requiring cities, townships, and counties in the seven county Twin Cities region to address climate change mitigation and adaptation in their 2050 comprehensive plans. Climate change mitigation requirements specify that plans include a greenhouse gas inventory, strategies for reducing emissions in five economic sectors, and quantifications of the potential greenhouse gas reductions attributed to those strategies. The Met Council is developing technical assistance tools to support municipalities in meeting statutory requirements and to do effective climate planning. This presentation will focus on the Greenhouse Gas Emission Reduction Tool as well as highlight additional resources that help support implementation and understanding.

Featured Presenter: Peter Wilfahrt is a principal researcher with Metropolitan Council.
